Jose's dad grows barley and corn. This is one of the barley fields near the place where his dad was born. It was such a beautiful day. The air was so...
clean.

This picture was taken a few steps away from where Asenscion was born. The only thing left of the house is a short rock wall. Here he's peeling back the corn stalk to the center, which is sweet. You chew on it and it tastes like sugar. We loved that, of course! Clark ate several of them.

Three generations overlooking the corn fields. I couldn't believe how beautiful the land is. Jose commented about how quiet it is up there and I have to agree. I've never heard such loud bugs before. That was all you could hear, the humming of bugs' wings.

In addition to the corn stalks, we also tried some cactus. I think we call it prickly pear cactus here in the States. It's the red pear-like part that grows on top of the flat green cactus. Despite what you might think from looking at this picture, we liked it!

This is the cemetery where several of Jose's ancestors are buried. We took pictures of their gravesites, hoping to do some temple work down the road.
