Okay, here it is, the long-awaited post about the reception. Nick and Brittany got married in Oregon in mid July, then drove down to Arizona for a second reception in Snowflake. Here's the family group shot: Gregg (Purple Heart and all), Amanda, Brittany, Nick, Aunt Kathy, Joey, Uncle Joe, and Christy (who had awesome pink hair).

The cutie pies. I did my best with the pictures, considering the facts that a. it was raining cats and dogs outside, and 2. the reception was held in the church gym. And, for the love, I do not own a digital SLR.

I love that Aunt Kathy asked me (me? my gosh, pickin's were slim apparently) to decorate the sheet cake. This is what I came up with, having luckily been provided with beautiful flowers and an abundance of tulle.

Again, please try not to knock the very basic photography and flower arranging here. I am not nor have I ever claimed to be a wedding photographer. Or florist of any kind. I swear.

I just love their expressions in this one. His is so tender. Hers is so sweet. Gotta love that whole newlywed complete adoration thing.

I have no idea who Nick was talking to here, but I just love how Brittany is holding onto his arm and leaning into him. And, of course, it's a really good shot of the gym floor too...

Getting ready to smear each other with cake. Don't they look too nice to smear? Don't you think they look like they will just give each other little teensy little tiny civilized bites?

Nope! Not on your life, four bucks. (Anyone remember that??) They smeared. And then I took a picture that I promised I would destroy in which Nick is actually licking the frosting off of Brittany's face. It's truly awful, unflattering is a
gross understatement, and won't help me one bit if I ever want to really get into the wedding photography business, which I don't.

Our darling grandparents who are literal saints on earth and helped scrub tablecloths before the blessed event.

My cousins, Eliza and Nephi, who watched fireworks with us later, after the party was over. Nephi was talking and I turned around to look because I didn't recognize his voice!!! Cannot believe that kid is so grown up. He was Clark's age like
yesterday!

This is John Yazzie and (someone help me out here, wife? sister? complete stranger?). John was one of my grandparents' foster kids. They consider him to be one of their own. Like I said. Saints on earth.

Brittany looks gorgeous in this one. Like magazine cover photogenic. I was pretty happy with this shot. So, there it is. The reception in a nutshell. It was simple, and fun. And afterward, Jose and I packed up Clark, pulled on our boots, and went to the Pioneer Day Rodeo. And thank goodness for the boots after all that rain! The munchkin fell asleep during the bull-riding, so we went back to the grandparents' house, tucked him in and then took the cousins to the hill by the cemetery to watch the fireworks. Then we got Dairy Queen Blizzards. It was quite the evening.
