The Second of July

The City of Mesa had a two-day Freedom Festival in celebration of the Fourth of July. The two-day festival started July 2nd. Does anybody else think that that's funny? Well, since just about everything was free, we decided we ought to go and take part in the fun. On the 2nd and 3rd of July. Heh. Heh.

They had mini golf for the little munchkins. Please take a closer look at this photo. That would be a hole-in-one, my friends. Look out, Tiger Woods. My kid's got skilz. And he is three.

I'm pretty sure the bounce houses, complete with slides and obstacles courses, were Clark's favorite. But let me tell you that getting a good photo of a kid in a bounce house is practically impossible. I gave up after trying about a million shots.

They even had free watermelon and water for anybody who wanted some. Clark was skeptical at first. He won't eat watermelon at home, where I prepare it for him in nice little bite-sized pieces. But here, in the heat of his bounce house induced dehydration, he reconsidered.

He also guzzled some of the powerade that Jose was smart enough (as always) to bring along. It was an awesome time! Fun all around. Including this look from Jose after I asked him to smile for the hundreth time. Turkey. Now I know where Clark gets it!

These flags were set up in the middle of the street and surrounded a blow-up version of the Washington monument. No, I am not kidding. They also had the U.S. Capitol building and the White House. All I can say about that is Wow. By the time we hit all the games and stuff and headed back to the car, the blow-up obelisk and buildings had all gone "night-night," as in, they lay in crumpled heaps on the ground. So, no photo evidence. Dang. But I loved these flags. And I am so grateful to be a citizen of this great country. Inflatable monuments and all.
