Back to Nature

Well, this proves that you don't have to go out into the country to wrestle with the brush. We were in the JCPenny parking lot. I asked him what he was doing and he told me, "I'm building a bush, Mom." Duh. Clark always says "Mom" or "Mommy" at the end of everything he tells me. It's cute. And redundant. And "I love your bush, Clark."

In other news, today was Clark's first gluten-free day. (Notice I said Clark's first gluten-free day. I, on the other hand, binged on Reeses peanut butter cup Easter eggs the entire day, just to get me through.) It was almost dairy-free also, but all the spaghetti sauce we had in the house had cheese in it. I was astonished. Who puts cheese in spaghetti sauce? Everyone, apparently.

Here's what we had for dinner:

Rice penne pasta with chicken apple sausage and asparagus. In dairy-filled spaghetti sauce.

Well, it's a start.

Edit: I wrote this whole thing and then realized that Jose shared his ramen with Clark for lunch. Okay, we are in serious trouble! Hand me the Easter candy, please.

hooray for you! you can do it. the beginning is the hardest part, it gets easier. and there are several brands of spaghetti sauce that don't have milk. it just takes energy and label reading to find them. i have been meaning to send you an email, as you have definitely been on my mind this week. hopefully i will have a chance soon!

I have heard that gluten-free diets really make a big difference in some kids' behavior (and health, of course). It sounds like a lot of work-- way to go for going for it! I hope you get whatever results you're looking for!

Todd makes the best spaghetti sauce and it's SO easy. One can tomato sauce, one can paste, thin with some chicken stock, and season with basil or whatever Italian-ish spices you like. I'm a fan of fennel. Mmmm.
