Happy Birthday Clark!

We woke up this morning and went to get Clark together. Usually, Jose gets him up for me and brings him in to me to be nursed at 6am. It was so fun to go in and see his bright happy face. Happy Birthday sweet boy!

As we sang Happy Birthday to him, and he got really excited and started jumping up and down in his crib and banged his mouth about halfway through. So much for our serenade! Poor kid.

We don't feel to sorry for him though, because he gots lots of presents! Thank you to all of you who remembered Clark's big day and shared your love with us, you know who you are, and we love you! Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Jake also called to sing!

Here I think we were just waiting for Daddy to come help with the opening, while Mommy took the pictures. It was fun, just the three of us.

After he figured out what was happening--that this was cool stuff for him, the rest of the shots are a total blur. He was moving too fast!

I did catch this one of him looking at a card from the Stimpsons. The other bummer was that the light was fading fast! So, you'll have to wait for the Clark movie (we also filmed the whole thing) in the next 20 years or so.

I must say I worked my buns off making his cake. I was pretty proud of it, until the frosting started to slide! I guess it's still too hot here or something! Luckily, Jose got home just in time to help me grab the camera, and take some pictures before all was lost!

Yea! The droopy cake! Really, though, it was pretty hilarious. Here's the birthday boy, confused as to why this amazing colorful confection is on fire. Mommy blew out the candle for him and wished for good sleep and digestion!

Clark was funny about the frosting. He kept trying to shake it off his fingers. I don't think he liked the way it felt. But he liked the triple chocolate fudge cake! Mmmmm, me too. Thankfully, he didn't want much of it... he tanked up on dinner beforehand. And he had soy milk for the first time today too! Let's hope for the best, tummywise! What a fun day! We plan to have a cupcake party with friends in the park next week. I can't wait. I love throwing parties for people I love!

Cool kid, cool hair... what more can you ask for on a 1st birthday. I was hoping to see pictures of Clark with a face plant in the cake. To cute. I love seeing kids eat cake for the first time. :) Overload of sugar!!!!
