On Saturday we went to the Scottsdale Horse Show. It was a BEAUTIFUL day and we had fun watching the horses walk, trot, and canter. The show horses were magestic and I was impressed with their shiny coats and long, long tails. I didn't care for the way they clip and knot their manes, though. Just seems like such a waste of something so beautiful.

In addition to show horses, they had some work horses. The horses cowboys ride! All three of us like them best, I think. And Clark wanted to get a closer look at the calfs they use in the arena to show how the horses cut back and forth and turn circles and chase.

I wouldn't know much about any of this, but Jose and I have been reading Louis L'Amour westerns, aloud, together since our friend J-P got us hooked; and I've actually learned quite a lot about cowboys and gunfights and horses and cattledrives. And you know what? They're fantastic! The stories, that is. Honey, I'm sorry, I still don't want to raise horses and chickens myself!
