Street Artists

In mid April, some friends of ours watched Clark and Jose and I went to see Clash of the Titans with our friends Norma and Justin.
After the movie, we noticed that our local mall had put on an outdoor art festival, so we had a look around.

There were hundreds of incredibly talented artists. And they all used pastels to create these amazing sidewalk pictures. I've never seen anything like it.

The detail in some of the drawings was incredible. I just couldn't get over it. I loved watching them and I felt bad for them. It was hot outside and they had to take frequent breaks from sitting or crouching on the ground to draw.

A few smart ones brought umbrellas. I love how you can see the how this artist is just drawing right over the double-yellow traffic line. It was quite the show. The bummer was that after the show was over, they opened up the streets again on Monday. A very short-lived exhibit. And very dedicated artists; to work so hard for so very little.

They used to do this in the train station in Frankfurt during the Christmas fests. I loved to watch them work.. but, it always made me sad to think of them putting that kind of effort into something that would just be swept away.
