Calaveras

This is Clark's creation. The calaveras, or skulls, are made out of sugar to contrast with the sadness that comes with death and can be given to the living and the deceased.







Jose told me after the fact that you are supposed to put the name of the recipient on the forehead. We gave this one to the Wilson family. They lived in Mexico City for a time and enjoy talking with Jose about Mexican culture.






This is the one I made. Jose also told me that when you give the skull to someone, you are supposed to make up a funny poem about the person and how the dead feel about him or her. I skipped that part.
