Nativity
Last year I had a truly beautiful experience putting up our Christmas nativity set. I held my new baby as I put each piece in it's place. And then, nestling the baby Jesus close to Clark's heart as he peacefully slept, I told him about the Savior's birth. It was a sweet moment in our new life together. Of course, I knew that this year would be a little different...
I started getting the nativity out of the box and put the pieces on the piano bench, so that Clark could see them. For a minute he just looked at them. It was really sweet. Then the fun began.
I told Clark about each of the characters in the nativity and made the animal sounds, which he loved. Then he picked up each piece and threw it on the ground. Thank goodness olive wood is so darn sturdy. We like baby proof.
Clark played with the wisemen for about 2 seconds and then discovered that the baby Jesus was the easiest to handle.
Apparently, the feet are fun to chew on. Too bad they weren't very tasty, though, because Clark became quickly distracted by the camera and gave up playing with the nativity entirely.
The pouty face that means, "But I waaaannnnt the camera, Mommmmmm!" Bummer. I loved every minute of it though. I cannot believe Clark has changed so much in just one short year. Next year he'll be able to understand the story.

My sister in law was telling my nephew about Baby Jesus and Ethan was so sad that Baby Jesus had to sleep in a barn. So when my sister in law went to put Ethan to sleep one night, she found all the baby Jesus's from all her nativities in Ethan's bed. She asked him why there were there, and he said, "Mom, baby Jesus can 'seep' in my bed," How darling is that.
